Steve Moore trained as an architect and has worked in the world of building technology for 40 years. He is a Non-Exec Director for various proptech and IoT companies his long-established relationships mean he acts as a trusted advisor to Greystar, Argent and others in the construction industry.

Steve is a recent recipient of CEDIA’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Previous roles included Director of Connected Home for Dixons Carphone, where he led teams that developed and sold software platforms to Apple, Sprint and SSE. Past clients include Autodesk. HP, Ford, Laing O’Rourke, Lutron, MACE and Virgin Atlantic. He is currently consulting for Amazon, Knight Frank, Ring and other businesses at the junction of property, design and technology. He has been volunteering and working with CEDIA for 30 years.

Stewart Langdown is a seasoned professional in the lighting industry, renowned for his exceptional contributions and expertise in lighting control. With more than 30 years of experience, he has established himself as a leading figure in this field.

Stewart's journey in the industry began with a foundation in Electronics and Construction before venturing into the lighting industry. Stewart's career has been heavily focused on Business Development, where he has been instrumental in introducing innovative Lighting technologies to new markets. Additionally, Stewart has a great passion for sustainable lighting which is evident in his advocacy efforts, as he continuously works to raise awareness about the benefits of smart technology and the importance of selecting appropriate technology to enhance building longevity.

Stewart is a Fellow of CIBSE the Society of Light and Lighting FSLL, and an active member of their committees as well as Chair of the Lighting Industry Association Marketing TC.

Brian English graduated in electronic engineering from Trinity College Dublin in 1986 and later achieved the Diploma in Marketing of the Marketing Institute of Ireland. In 1992, ater working for some years in Co. Cork, he moved to the Netherlands as European Distribution Sales Manager for Artesyn Technologies and subsequently spent five years as European VP Sales & Marketing for a division of Emerson Electric from St. Louis, Missouri.

In 2000 he joined the XP Power group as Managing Director of XP Power Ltd. where he was responsible for the establishment of the group’s sales infrastructure
throughout continental Europe. In 2003 he set up Qupact International and launched a program to guide companies through the complex task of setting up and managing third party sales channels in international markets.

Reliable Controls brought him back to his roots in 2016, when he joined the Canadian company and took on responsibility for developing its dealer network throughout EMEA.

Simon Ward is an experienced Sales Professional in the building automation market. He has extensive experience of the installation and use of room controls as well as technical knowledge of advanced building automation in commercial buildings such as offices, hotels and apartments. He started his career at Distech Controls in 2015 and has built a successful sales team in the UK, positioning Distech Controls as a tier 1 vendor in the UK and Irish markets.

Jim Sword is a Sales Professional who has worked within the Building Automation industry for over 30 years and has extensive knowledge of Building Energy Management Systems (BeMS) and integration with other Building Automation Systems such as Fire, Security, Access & Lighting. He has supported selection and impementation of systems in a wide variety of projects including major office developments, research sites, education establishments, healtcare facilities and retail outlets.

Jim believes that integrated solutions have a large role to play in making building environments efficient, safe and comfortable but can also introduce automated processes that assist with compliance, which is becoming increasingly more important.

Kal is an experienced sales leader with over 25 years’ experience in Technology Sales with the last 15 years in IoT solutions and Smart Buildings. He is passionate about sustainability and the current fit with EnOcean not only meets with his professional experience but also aligns perfectly with his personal values.

Kal has worked in corporate organisations such as Honeywell, Renesas and Dialog Semiconductors, as well as smaller start-up/scale up businesses.

Andy has been working in the building services industry since 1986. Initially training as an air conditioning engineer he continued to develop his skills in building services through hands-on installation, maintenance and commissioning culminating in a career in the emerging BMS industry in the mid 1990’s.

Over the years he has held engineering and leadership roles with contractors, technology providers and manufacturers including the position of Technical Manager at Sontay. In 2006 he started a control systems contracting business with two partners and remained managing director there until 2014 before setting out on his own to provide contract consultancy services.

Recent appointments include managing the EMEA critical systems environmental monitoring strategy for a large investment bank and building services commissioning manager at a landmark medical research facility in London. Control systems and BMS are his area of expertise and he has gained a wealth of experience working within the building services industry.

He is passionate about innovation and especially the convergence of sensing and I.T. systems establishing BMS as a proven technology in the “Internet of Things” revolution.

Paul Price has spent more than 40 years in integrated building controls — which, as he likes to say, makes him sound both experienced and a little odd.

A familiar face in the industry, Paul played a key role at Tridium in driving global adoption of the Niagara Framework and building long-term relationships with end-users, partners, and technology providers.

Now, as Director of Product Sales at Forest Rock, he’s focused on equipping the systems integrator community with what really matters: the right products, competitive pricing, and world-class support that make delivering projects easier and more profitable.

Paul’s passion is simple: helping integrators win — whether that’s leveraging disruptive IoT technologies, exploring how AI can bring real value to building performance, or simply cutting through the noise to deliver practical solutions that work on-site.

Stacey’s career at Sontay started in 2001 when she joined the company as a Customer Service Advisor in an industry that she had no idea existed! Since then she has caught the ‘Building Controls Bug’ and is ever more excited about the new technologies embraced by the industry and the future that lies ahead. By working her way up through Customer Service and Sales, she has built long lasting relationships with many of their customers and she is able to use the knowledge and insight learned in these years to effectively market the excellent Sontay range. It has also given her a fantastic knowledge base and high level of technical understanding of the Sontay product range and how it fits within the industry.

As is the case with most in the building technology industry, Ciarans journey to designing Smart Buildings was somewhat unconventional.
A Building Services Engineer by qualification, his first exposure to Smart Buildings was when he joined a BMS manufacturer which subsequently sparked his interest in building technology. Spending nearly ten years as a BMS engineer working on projects worldwide, gave him a broad understanding of the technologies involved in Smart Buildings and how they were implemented in the 'real world'.
He brings this real world experience into the design of Smart Buildings where he now leads the Building Intelligence team at Hoare Lea delivering better buildings for people and planet.

David Grundy is a seasoned business development executive with over 20 years of experience across the built environment sector. His career spans technical facilities management at the likes of GSH Group (now ISS Technical Services), energy and estate performance at Matrix Control Solutions (now E.ON Controls), and more recently, a focus on Smart Buildings, Digital Twins, and related advisory services at PARA (a Sidara Company). David is known for his customer-centric approach, prioritizing solution value over technology for technology’s sake.

Matthew Marson is an experienced leader, working at the intersection of technology, sustainability, and the built environment. Having founded WSP’s Smart Places practice and grown Accenture’s offering in this field, Matthew led a €100m business across a range of asset types and geographies.

Marson was named as the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Young Engineer of the Year 2022 and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Young Visionary 2016 for his contributions to the global Smart Buildings industry.

Josh Steel has worked in the building energy management systems (BEMS) industry for over a decade.
His career has progressed apace, initially working as a BMS Electrical Installer before climbing the ranks to become a BMS Sales Engineer and, more recently, a Sales Manager.

Elected as the Chair of the BCIA's Young Engineers Network in November 2024, Josh is keen to use this position to build a positive built environment for everyone to enjoy.

The Young Engineers Network is aimed at those under the age of 35 in technically biased roles within the BEMS industry and provides learning, networking and peer-to-peer support.

As the UK South Sales Manager at Sontay, Stan has immersed himself in the HVAC industry, Stan’s initial focus is understanding Sontay's customer base and fulfilling customer promises by fostering relationships and deepening product knowledge.

Since November 2024, Stan has been Vice Chair of BCIA's Young Engineers Network where he is motivated by a vision to bring fresh energy and focused support to young engineers, strengthening their professional networks, knowledge, and confidence in the industry.

• An electrical building services engineer by background, Chris is a multi-disciplinary project leader for Arup with experience in commercial (developer and occupier), residential and education buildings. His favourite project is the 50 storey 8 Bishopsgate tower in the City of London, where he led the Arup team from inception through to practical completion some ten years later.

Dawn is a passionate advocate for future talent development. Joining Schneider Electric in 2023, leading Career Programmes across the UK and Ireland, including Apprenticeships, T Levels, Ex-Military and STEM initiatives. She believes in creating inclusive, empowering career pathways that equip individuals with the skills and experiences to thrive. Dawn joined Schneider Electric from a career in further education, where she discovered the power of confidence and opportunity. Leading teams across multiple college sites that supported young people through T Levels, employer engagement, and work placements. Joining the T Level Ambassador Network in 2019, she became one of the first two National Vice Chairs in 2021. Dawn’s 3-year tenure ended in 2024 where she remained a passionate ambassador, and taking time back in building on her innovative approach to early careers at Schneider Electric.

James Palmer has over 35 years of experience in the smart buildings industry. From the early days of machine-to-machine integration, he has been at the forefront of making buildings smarter. James has led the rollout of smart monitoring solutions for major blue-chip companies like Verizon, Deutsche Bank, and COLT Telecom. He has also helped a major retail chain reduce its total energy spend by over 40% and has worked in housing from the ultra-high end to sheltered accommodation. There’s little in the smart buildings industry that James hasn’t encountered.

Duncan is the Project Infrastructure Lead at One Sightsolutions, one of the UK's leading Master Systems Integrators, his role is there to help bridge the gap between IT and OT, and R&D and Operations.

The role includes offering IP network expertise and assistance to project engineers and third parties to allow smooth integration and conversation between IT and OT partners on various smart building projects across London. Amongst many things this has included deep analysis of behaviour of IoT devices on IP networks, and diagnosis of erroneous broadcast BACnet traffic on internetworks with hundreds of devices.

Tasks often involve working with large data sets such as network scans and COBie data drops from BIM exports, and leveraging tools to enable quick scraping, cleansing, and validation of properties such as asset identifiers to ensure uniqueness and that they are well formed in accordance with prescribed naming conventions.

Duncan is a proven technical enthusiast with a keen eye for quality, consistency, clarity and maximum efficiency. Coming from a strong background founded in computer science and IT networking, he transitioned to the smart building/IoT sphere in 2011. This included programming the underlying KNX and DALI building automation systems that run The Crystal, one of the greenest buildings in the world, a year after graduating with a degree in Computer Science from Loughborough University. The Crystal went on to be a finalist for the Best International KNX Project in the category Europe at the KNX Awards 2014, and won KNX Installation of the Year at the KNX UK Annual Awards 2014.

Over the years Duncan has worked very closely with the developers at Tridium, offering advice and recommendations on the new KNX driver for the Niagara Framework, along with architecting web-based tools that validate smart building systems against sets of defined naming conventions and CAD drawings, to wipe out human error.

After the completion of an apprenticeship in Machining and Fitting followed by a BSc in Engineering with Business Studies in the mid-1980’s, Jon started his career in the Building Services sector with Landis and Gyr as a Sales Engineer and progressed to a Senior Project Engineer.

Over the subsequent decade Jon developed his skills/experience of controls through a variety of different challenges ranging from telephone-controlled lighting systems to medical electronics, process controls and machine automation. After 12 years of controls experience, he identified a gap in the market for a customer-led (as opposed to product-led) controls company and as a result InTandem Systems Ltd was formed. This 35+ year career has enabled Jon to experience and contribute to an extensive range of projects and initiatives in the controls sector and to invest significantly in the development of future BMS Controls Engineers. He is a past President of the BCIA, a Fellow of CIBSE, a CIBSE Council Member, Chair of the CIBSE IT & Controls Group, Chair of the CIBSE AI Working Group, a Chartered Engineer, a UCL Industry Advisor, an EPA Assessor for the BMS Trailblazer Apprenticeship and promotes professional development for all Building Services Engineers.

Anthony is an Intelligent Building specialist at Honeywell Building Automation. He is involved with all aspects of building management system (BMS) planning, from helping ensure the optimum occupant experience, through to next generation energy management and digitisation of the building.

Netza has also worked for a wide range of recognized companies such as British Land, Tishman Speyer and The FA, implementing new technologies such as building metering and battery storage technology, green initiatives and strategies for building optimisation and carbon reporting. He is also a previous winner of the CIBSE Building Performance Awards, recognised for Building Operation and recently shortlisted for 2025 CIBSE Engineer of the Year.

His current roles focused on providing strategic leadership as well as the operational performance management of Engineering (and other related services), ensuring that the day-to-day operation is delivered to a high standard with efficient and smart performance.

Netza is currently in the process of implementing a data-led predictive maintenance (DLM) system with Engineering firm, TwentyOne Engineering. Although this technology and its methods are at an infancy stage, Netza is currently leading on its delivery, and has identified that the Building Services industry would require trained/ tech-savvy staff with the right insight to manage and operate these new systems. Throughout his years working with and representing KNX at a national and international level, Iain has presented countless talks on many associated subjects and moderated panels in the Smart technology sector.

Graham is a veteran in the microelectronics industry with over 40 years experience in wireless solutions at various Engineering, Sales and Marketing positions in USA, GB, Germany, Austria and Norway. He founded the EnOcean Alliance in 2007 to create an open standard for energy harvesting powered wireless solutions for smart buildings. Before joining EnOcean he was a pioneer in low power wireless sensor networks at Chipcon, Texas Instruments and austriamicrosystems. Graham studied in USA and GB and is a Physics Graduate from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Thomas Kurowski is President of the BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) and serves as Technical Regulation and Standardization Manager at Siemens Smart Infrastructure.

A passionate advocate for open standards, he plays a key role in global initiatives. As a voting member of the ASHRAE SSPC 135 BACnet Committee and expert at CEN TC 247, Thomas is instrumental in shaping the future of BACnet to ensure seamless system interoperability.
