Breaking Down Building Software Silos: Why Energy, Power and Building Management Are Converging
Building Management Systems, Energy Management Systems and Power Management Systems have traditionally evolved as separate software domains. But as buildings become more electrified, sustainability targets become operational priorities, and AI reshapes how facilities are managed, those traditional boundaries are starting to disappear.
This session explores the forces driving the convergence of energy, power and building management, why fragmented software architectures are becoming increasingly difficult to scale, and how unified operational platforms can help organizations improve efficiency, resilience and decision-making. It concludes with a preview of Schneider Electric's vision for the next generation of facility operations.
Session Speaker
My day job is leading the Power Management side of Schneider Electric's EcoXpert (partner channel) business and supporting our partners through the industry's ongoing software transformation. As we've worked through the evolution of OT platforms, AI, digital services and software business models, a common theme has emerged: energy management, power management and building management are no longer separate conversations. This session is my perspective on why those worlds are converging, what is driving the change, and why I believe the future of smart buildings will be built around unified operations rather than standalone systems.
