Lighting and Climate Convergence: A New Paradigm for Smart Buildings
The session will be delivered with Tridonic and Giacomini as Mymesh Ready Partners.
Together, we will show how intelligent lighting, smart hydronic climate control and wireless IoT can converge through a practical, partner led ecosystem.
This is not a theoretical future vision. It is a simpler, lower risk and more scalable approach to smart building delivery.
For too long, smart buildings have been built around separate systems: lighting, BMS, heating, cooling, sensors, metering and analytics. Each layer is often procured and delivered separately, creating complexity, duplicated infrastructure, fragmented data and integration risk.
This session presents a new paradigm: the convergence of lighting and climate control through occupancy led intelligence.
Lighting is already one of the most distributed infrastructures in a building. Climate control is one of the largest drivers of energy use, comfort and operational performance. By bringing these two worlds together, buildings can move beyond fixed schedules and siloed systems, responding instead to how spaces are actually being used.
Mymesh will show how a secure, robust and scalable wireless IoT platform can act as the digital backbone for this convergence. Occupancy becomes the common signal. Lighting responds to presence and need. Climate responds to actual use, demand and space conditions. Data becomes more valuable because it reflects the live operational reality of the building.
Delegates will learn how the Mymesh Ready approach can reduce complexity for consultants, contractors, OEMs, system integrators and end clients. By embedding intelligence into partner technologies, and avoiding unnecessary reliance on heavy cabling or single vendor lock in, smart building projects can become easier to design, install, commission and scale across estates.
The session will explore how occupancy led lighting and climate control can reduce energy waste, improve comfort, support retrofit and unlock richer operational insight.
This is about moving beyond connected products and towards connected outcomes: secure, scalable, manufacturer agnostic and ready for the next generation of energy efficient smart buildings.
Session Speaker
Ashley Bateup is an engineer, entrepreneur and smart building leader with a career spanning government defence, telecommunications and intelligent infrastructure.
During 26 years in the defence sector, he led advanced technology solutions across major international programmes, integrating complex systems to deliver resilient, mission critical outcomes. He later applied this experience to telecommunications and large scale data systems, turning real time information into operational intelligence.
After founding a lighting business in 2010, Ashley recognised the wider opportunity to digitise the built environment. Independent of any single lighting manufacturer, he developed partnerships with leading component manufacturers, including Tridonic, and evolved the business into intelligent building enablement.
Since 2018, Ashley has led Mymesh in the UK, delivering secure, robust and scalable wireless IoT solutions that improve energy efficiency, building performance, compliance and occupant outcomes
