Why Microgrids can't afford to be Micro anymore
The UK's electricity grid is fast becoming one of the biggest barriers to decarbonisation.
From EV charging hubs and logistics parks to industrial facilities and smart commercial buildings, developers are finding that the power needed to support electrification, renewable generation and future growth simply isn't available when they need it.
As a result, organisations are increasingly turning to private networks and microgrids, not just as resilience measures, but as critical infrastructure that can unlock projects, reduce costs and support long-term energy flexibility.
In this session, Eclipse Power will explore how microgrids are evolving beyond isolated energy systems to become the foundation of future energy estates, industrial parks and smart buildings. We'll examine the impact of grid constraints, the growing role of private networks, battery storage and local generation, and how independent network operators are helping organisations accelerate projects while supporting the wider energy transition.
Attendees will leave with practical insight into how energy infrastructure is changing, why traditional grid connections are no longer enough, and what organisations can do today to futureproof developments against growing power demands.
