Jonathan Winston

Jonathan is an expert in sustainable real estate, building performance and technologies, carbon reduction strategies and climate change mitigation with 15 years of experience in the sector. Joining Smart Managed Solutions in 2024, he is leading a specialist team in identifying and developing energy savings opportunities and interventions across large scale, complex flagship real estate sites, providing detailed reporting on the impact against emissions and ESG targets to the clients.

Previously at Carbon Trust, he was primarily engaged with developing and delivering net zero and operational strategy for sustainable commercial real estate, working with the Carbon Neutral Real Estate Fund under the Low Carbon Workplace programme. This included the development of the Fund’s Net Zero Commitment, net zero asset acquisition assessments and the core sustainability criteria for the recent asset refurbishments.

He studied Civil and Architectural engineering (MEng) at University of Bath and, prior to Carbon Trust, joined at Schneider Electric as a project developer on holistic multi-million pound energy performance contracts for large scale public estates including Kings College Hospital and University of Sheffield.
