The Smart Buildings Show team regards the health and safety of our exhibitors, contractors, staff, visitors and partners of paramount importance and we are committed to keeping you safe at the event.

Please click here to familiarise yourself with the current UK guidance for exhibitions and the measures that are now in place to ensure the safety and comfort of all those onsite. Our event specific COVID-19 Policy, outlined below, has been based on this guidance and the current level of COVID-19 threat in the UK.

Please note that prior to coming onsite:

  • Everyone must be aware of and compliant with current UK government guidance* and specific event measures relating to COVID-19 (listed below).
  • Everyone arriving onsite must be in good health and not suffering with any COVID-19 symptoms.
  • If you become unwell whilst onsite, please contact First Aid or the Organisers immediately stating your symptoms.Z

Entry into the venue - Covid status check

In line with the current, UK government guidance* the venue (ExCeL) will be operating a Covid Pass checking system where entry will only be granted to persons showing proof of double vaccination, negative lateral flow or PCR test or proof of immunity.

The above will apply to ALL persons - contractors, staff working at the event, exhibitors and visitors alike and will be checked by ExCeL security staff at point of entry into the venue. Please ensure that you have your NHS Covid Pass or the equivalent for international visitors from your country of origin, ready for inspection.

Trace and contact

Details of attendees and exhibitors will be captured through the registration system.

Face Coverings

The use of a face covering will be encouraged but not mandatory in the common areas of the venue (the boulevard) and be a personal choice at the event.

We recommend the use of face coverings within our seminar theatres but would, however, ask that individual choices are always respected.

Social distancing

In line with current UK government guidance, no social distancing measures will be enforced in the common areas of the venue or the event itself. Self- service terminals at registration will be used to minimise queuing and contact during the registration process.

There will be a clear and segregated entry and exit channel into the event and excessive queues or crowding will be monitored and managed by security staff at all times.

Cleaning and personal hygiene

We have worked with the venue to provide enhanced cleaning before, during and after the Smart Buildings Show.

Everyone attending the event will be encouraged to wash hands regularly and hand sanitising stations for disinfection will be provided in key points around the event.

The seminar theatres will have a dedicated cleaning and or single use regime for its AV equipment.

The venue will be operating increased ventilation to improve fresh air circulation in line with the latest CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) guidance and recommendations.

Food and beverage

We have worked with our venue partners to employ the highest standards of food safety, serving pre-packaged food options only.

First aid

The venue has a dedicated medical centre open throughout the build, open and breakdown periods of the event. Anyone feeling unwell should report to the Organisers Office in the first instance.

*Please note: This is in line with the current UK government guidance and the venue entry policy stated in this document reflects this.
